Name: Nitro
Age: 2.5 years
Breed: Doberman Pinscher
Personality:
Nitro has the typical Doberman attitude and courage that they are known for; she is strong, very cunning and sly...a bit on the devious side. She's stubborn and strong-willed, never backing down from a fight unless she realizes that the consequences will turn up dire. However, if she is protecting someone she will most likely fight to the death to ensure that being's safety. Her temperament is that of a typical Schutzhund dog, having been born to it. She does not frighten very easily and thinks things through before taking action, although there are, of course, times when there isn't enough time for her to think fast or she just slips up. To her friends, Nitro is sweet and lovable but she stands aloof to enemies and strangers. She's very dominant and a pretty aggressive girl so be careful so you don't make a wrong move around this female! She may not be the strongest or smartest dog out there (who really is?) but she can sure give you a run for your money.
Appearance:
The coat coloring is glossy black with the custom rusty chest & facial markings, and deep amber almond-shaped eyes with reddish hints in them. Her ears have been cropped in the show style, long and slender, and her tail has also been docked short. She looks very sleek and healthy, her coat is gorgeous and shines but she has been losing weight and luster due to her time on the streets. Which would explain why she's only 74 pounds. She stands exactly 25 inches at the withers, almost male-sized. She's very swift, being able to run at speeds of almost 50 mph, almost unbelievable for some people to believe of a Dobe. Nitro isn't super-dog though, and she knows it. The fae has great muscle for her build, and it definitely shows underneath that short fur. She has a good, strong bite from her training and breeding but since she doesn't weigh TOO much, she could probably be taken down by a heavier dog, even though she's good on her paws.
History:
Nitro was born unto a wealthy homestyle. Her dam and sire were both Seiger/Seigerin show champions who excelled in protection sports, mostly Schutzhund. After her mother earned her SchH3 title she was bred, producing a gorgeous litter of 5 puppies. Around the time Nitro was six months, she was selected as the most capable competition prospect and so she was shipped from Germany to the United States to a man who had told her breeder that she was to be used in competition and guardian duties.
That was not entirely the case, however. He wanted her mostly for fighting purposes and to intimidate people which she did quite enthusiastically. She never bit anyone outside the training field and when she turned two, she was fought in her first real spar. Her opponent was half Pit Bull and half German Shepherd, an odd combination indeed. The dog in question was only seven months old, unexperienced and Nitro wanted no part of it. She refused to attack the dog for in her view, she saw no true threat imposing upon either her or her master.
In disappointment she was taken home and put to a different purpose--showing and the Schutzhund she had been intended for. Nitro took to both with great vigor, particularly enjoying the Schutzhund trials she took part in. It made her spirit soar to be able to do this work and she gave it her all. The conformation was fine too but she didn't really favor the tightness of the show lead across her throat as she was led about the ring. The Man never really hurt her, never struck her when she didn't deserve it but he didn't love her, either.
After placing "Best of Breed" in a small dog show almost eight months later, The Man left her in her crate in the van while he went out to celebrate with some friends at a nearby bar and a thief who had been watching her earlier broke in and stole her. She was raging and snarling against the kennel walls but to no avail. She was sold again, this time at the age of three years, to a woman about 1500 miles away and there she stayed for almost 2 months, enduring the bad treatment and receiving meager rations of kibble and supplement. She studied everyday how the kennel latch was opened and one night she tried it for herself. The door opened! Nitro disappeared and has been living on the streets for about 2 weeks now. It's a miracle that she hasn't been taken in or found out and dragged to the pound yet.
